According the the Environmental Working Group, in this year’s $76 billion U.S. Farm Bill, organic farmers are getting less than 1%. The EWG Action Fund is an attempt to level the playing field by getting organic farmers the funding they need, including increased government support for thousands of farmers who are transitioning to organic agriculture.
This online petition urges congress to give organic farmers their fair share of tax dollars for research on how to grow organic food and to help more farmers make the transition to organic farming.
“Your donation will help fund our campaign in Congress to shift farm subsidies toward organics and environmentally sustainable farming and away from pesticide-heavy, chemically dependent agriculture.”
Campaign donations will be matched until June 30th.
