The lines have been blurred for some time now: Kraft Foods are on the shelves a the local co-op, and Boca Burgers can be purchased at the supermarket. We shop for food every week and make our choices. And we still use whatever drivers of choice — price, packaging, habit, our inclination to restrict or indulge, our concern for the health of our familes and the environment — that we’ve developed over the years. The kicker is that now more of our food has a prominently displayed — and federally regulated — organic label. The question is, can we trust it?

My only formal association with organic products is as a member of the local natural foods co-op. I’ve been motivated to start this blog by a sense of amazement and alarm at the recent increase in the amount of mainstream media coverage being received by all things organic.
